Taking Smurf

your smurfs online by learning how to take smurf pictures
Collectors of
Smurfs find much pleasure in taking pictures of their Smurfs. Smurf
pictures may be used for recording your collection and also for sharing
your Smurf collection with Smurfy friends. You may also need to take
pictures of your Smurfs should you decide to offer them for sale or
trade.
It seems easy
enough but many people find that taking Smurf pictures is not as straightforward
as they envisaged! Your average camera does not cater for the close-up
shots required and using a camera flash will spoil the smurf picture
as there will be too much light. You also need to consider the type
of background you are going to use.
Which
cameras are best for taking Smurf pictures?
Cameras with a
macro function are ideal for sharply focussed close-ups of
Smurfs.
Should
I use a flash for my Smurf pictures?
We don’t
recommend you use a flash for taking pictures of Smurfs. If you don’t
want to be restricted to daylight shots then we recommend you use
some daylight bulbs which are available from most well-known DIY stores.
You can set up your mini photography studio with a couple of lamps
fitted with these bulbs which simulate natural daylight, and also
we suggest you cover a piece of card with some silver foil and use
this to reflect light back into the shadow areas of the subject, in
this case a smurf! Turn your automatic flash off on your camera, use
your macro function (if you have one) and take your smurf picture!
What
background should I use for my Smurf pictures?
You have to keep
in mind that Smurfs are mainly blue so this rules out blue-toned backgrounds
as the Smurfs won’t stand out.
There are also
red Smurfs such as Papa Smurf and Little Devil Smurf so this is also
not the ideal colour if you want all your Smurfs picture backgrounds
to be the same.
Black Smurfs characters
include Chimney Sweeper, Quacksalber and Gargamel; again not always
an ideal background for Smurf pictures.
White backgrounds
are always difficult as white reflects the light.
We find that a
two-tone background works well because it gives the Smurfs a 3-D effect
but the final choice is really down to the individual. It is probably
best to buy some coloured card from your local craft shop and experiment
to ind the colours you prefer.
