Smurf
pictures
Generally we don't mind people using our Smurf
pictures for non-commercial reasons. However,
if you wish to use one of our smurf pictures on
your website then we would appreciate it if you adhere to
the following: -
Please do not hotlink
images from our website. Hotlinking is where someone
links to the image directly from our page. To tell
whether you have hotlinked our image on your website you
should right-click the image and then left-click on
Properties. If the Address starts
http://www.kittyscavern.com.. then you have hotlinked
directly from our site and are using our bandwidth. This
means that every time someone views the page with our
smurf image on, this is using some of our allocated
bandwidth usage, which we pay for. The correct way to use
one of our images is to right-click the image on our
page, left-click "Save target as" and then save the image
to your hard drive on your computer. If you are using one
of our smurf images for a forum avatar then you may need
to make it smaller before you can use it, please do not
get around this problem by hotlinking. We can trace any
hotlinked images and we will rename those used without
our permission and indicate that they have been hotlinked
which could cause embarrassment.
The main reason we will refuse to let someone
use our smurf pictures is if they are using them in order
to sell smurfs, because the smurf in our picture might be
a different variation or differing condition to the one
the person is trying to sell, and we don’t want to cause
problems for smurf collectors.
Using other people’s pictures can be quite a big
problem on eBay. People who are new to selling on eBay
quite often don’t own a camera so they take pictures from
smurf shop websites to use in their auctions. If they
don’t know a great deal about smurfs they can mislead
buyers, especially die-hard collectors who are looking
for variations. If you see someone selling smurfs on eBay
whose pictures have differing backgrounds then it could
be they are using someone else’s pictures, so take care
if you come across this situation and email the seller if
you are unsure whether their smurf is actually the one
pictured.
