A short history

Terry & Irene Anderson

The British Smurf Collectors Club was founded by Terry and Irene Anderson. Terry and Irene introduced smurfs into the UK via the National Garages petrol promotions in the late 1970s.

Terry Anderson has generously allowed us to scan some of his photographs taking during the early 1980s which include pictures of Peyo and many of the other people responsible for distributing smurfs at that time. To see these pictures please click here.

Kitty's Cavern

Kitty's Cavern purchased the British Smurf Collectors Club in 2007, as Terry and Irene Anderson have now retired, but our circumstances changed and we were unable to run the club.  Below is the official banner of the club that was used during the time Kitty's Cavern had the club. 

Alan Mecham

We handed over the reins of the British Smurf Collectors Club to long time smurf collector, TV writer and presenter Alan Mechem in 2009 and the club was relaunched in 2010.
